Unani Medicine System and its Importance
The medication system of Unani treatment is revered as one of the oldest medication systems in the world. Roots of this treatment system goes back to 6000 years ago in Greece. The Unani medicine system originated in Greece and later due to its effective treatment system and the influence conferred by the healing process that it provides, it was adopted by the middle east and in the entire indian subcontinent.
The Unani medication system is quite different from regular medications. The Unani system of medication totally relies on the natural power of the body. As per the unani system, the human body has the power to heal itself. All that the human needs to identify the healing power within themselves and let them grow until the root cause of the disease vanishes. This system of medicine has been practiced since centuries and is mainly based on the four components that are : Earth, Fire, Water and Air. A number of diseases and disorders are well cured by this unani medicine system only like weight loss, diabetes, psoriasis, arthritis etc.
BUMS stands for bachelor of unani medicine and surgery. This is an undergraduate degree program approved and well recognized by none other than the Ministry of Ayush, Government of india. This is a 5.5 yrs long duration course including 1 yr of mandatory Internship. The process of admission in unani colleges to pursue BUMS is followed by Counselling after clearing the entrance exams like NEET, KEAM, CPAT and CPMEE.
As far as the syllabus of BUMS is concerned, the entire 4.5 yrs long course is divided into three parts which is also termed as three professions. Syllabus of BUMS is as follows :

Ayush courses have been quite popular among the students after medical courses. All aspirants who want to pursue a career in Unani medication system must appear for an entrance test. Apart from NEET, dozens of entrance exams are held every year to let aspirants secure a seat in an Unani College. All admissions in BUMS, whether in Private, Government or in University will be made on the basis of scores obtained in the entrance tests either in National (NEET-UG), State level (OJEE, TS EAMCET) or University level (BVP CET).
