This medical institute is a Private Non-Minority Institution. KIMS, Maduranthagam is established and managed by Karpaga Vinayaga Educational Trust. The trust is a Private, Self-financing, and Charitable Organisation. The trust was established long back in 1993 and later in 2009. KIMS was founded.

Karpaga Vinayaga Medical College is spread over 30.76 acres of land near NH-45 at Maduranthagam. KIMS, Maduranthagam is supported by a multispecialty tertiary hospital with 550 bedded capacity. Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Medical Sciences, Maduranthagam offers MBBS at the Undergraduate level and MD, MS at the Postgraduate level. Aspiring students need to possess certain eligibility to secure a seat in UG and the Postgraduate programs.

To secure a seat in MBBS and PG Courses in KIMS, Maduranthagam, the candidates need to hold certain eligibility criteria which are discussed below.

For MBBS Aspirants:

• Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English having 50% marks from any recognized board. Candidates from the reserved category need to possess 40% in the same. 
• Candidates need to attain 17 years of age. Less than mentioned age will not be entertained in any circumstances.
• Candidates must have qualified NEET-UG with the required percentile. 

For MD/MS Aspirants:

• Candidates must have passed MBBS from a recognized University by the NMC.
• Candidates need to have completed 1 Year of mandatory Internship on or before 31st of March in the same year of applying.
• Candidates need to produce permanent/provisional registration provided by the NMC (Earlier MCI) or the respective state medical council.
• Candidates need to obtain a minimum of 50 percentile in NEET-PG for General Category and for reserved category, the requirement is 40 percentile in the same.

All the admissions to any of the UG and PG Courses are strictly based on merit gained in the All India Entrance Exam i.e. NEET-UG and NEET-PG for Postgraduate courses. KIMS, Maduranthagam offers MD and MS Courses in several clinical and paraclinical specializations, recognized by NMC, New Delhi. 

Students who wish to take admission in this college, need to obtain the required percentile in NEET followed by the counseling conducted by the Directorate of Medical Education, Chennai. For All India Quota seats, students need to participate in the counseling conducted by MCC. The college offers an MBBS Program that carries a duration of 4.5 years of Academic Course and 1 year of Mandatory Internship. The entire duration of the course is 5.5 years. 

Aspirants seeking admission to KIMS, Maduranthagam need to qualify for NEET-UG. Candidates are required to go through a centralized Counselling process conducted by DME, Chennai. 

All rounds of Counselling are held online.
