In Maharashtra, there are a total of 55 medical colleges offering the MBBS programs as of May 2021. Out of a total of 57 medical colleges, there are 25 Government, 17 Private, and 10 Deemed Medical Colleges in India. 

NEET UG 2021 Results have been declared, so Maharashtra NEET UG Counselling 2021 has been started from 30th Dec 2021. Maharashtra Combined Entrance Test Cell, Mumbai i.e. MH CET, Mumbai is the sole competent authority to conduct Maharashtra NEET UG Counselling 2021, however for 100% seats in Deemed Medical Institutes in Maharashtra, MCC i.e. Medical Counselling Committee will carry out the Counselling for All India Quota seats.

As far as total MBBS seats are concerned, there are a total of 6400 MBBS Seats available in Maharashtra, Government Medical Colleges of Maharashtra offer 2950 MBBS Seats, and 1600 MBBS Seats available in private medical colleges. In total of 10 Deemed Medical Colleges, there is an annual intake of 1850 MBBS seats in total.

Maharashtra NEET UG Counselling 2021: Counselling Process

Maharashtra NEET UG Counselling 2021 is a state Centralised Online Counselling Process. The sole authority to conduct online NEET UG Counselling 2021 is Maharashtra CET i.e. MH CET, Mumbai.

Candidates need to visit the official website at https://mhcet.org for registration on the basis of NEET UG Score 2021. Candidates can apply to MBBS/BDS Courses in various Government/Private medical colleges in the state of Maharashtra.

In order to secure an MBBS seat in Deemed Medical College, Candidates will have to register at https://mcc.nic.in. There are two rounds of counselling that take place followed by a Mop-Up round of NEET Counselling 2021 is subjected to the availability of MBBS/BDS Seats after the 2nd round. 

From 2021 onwards, the medical counselling for AIQ which is carried out by MCC will last till the stray round vacancy. None of any AIQ seats will be reverted back to the state quota.

Admissions to the Medical/Dental/Ayush colleges of Maharashtra are solely based on the NEET 2021 score. Only NEET 2021 qualified candidates can participate in the Maharashtra NEET UG Counselling 2021. Details are being shared in the article below.

Registration:

  • Candidates have to register on the website i.e. https://mhcet.org and submit the counselling fee which is Rs. 1000/5000/6000 through Internet banking or any online mode.
  • MH CET, Mumbai will publish the Maharashtra NEET 2021 merit list for the qualified candidate as per the secured marks and required percentile. Selected candidates will be allowed to participate in further events of Counselling.

Choice Filling:

  • Candidates need to fill in Online choices at the https://mhcet.org website by using their registration number and Transaction Id generated at the time of registration.
  • Candidates have to fill their choices of colleges as per their priority. They can fill choices as many as they wish.

Allotment Result:

  • Candidates can check the seat allotment status from the CET, Mumbai at https://mhcet.org
  • Candidates are advised to download their allotment letter which needs to be produced at the time of reporting to the allotted college.
  • Seats are allotted to the candidates on the basis of rank, scored marks, and the choices of their preferences.

Reporting to Allotted College:

  • This is the final event when the candidates need to report to the allotted college with an allotment letter before the last date of admission.
  • Seats will be considered as confirmed, once the fee payment and verification of documents will take place.

Maharashtra NEET UG Counselling 2021: Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must have qualified NEET-UG 2021.
  • Candidates must have the domicile of Maharashtra (Differ for NRI/Other Quota)
  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as Core subjects with a minimum of 50% marks, 40% marks required for SC/ST Category candidates.
  • The candidates should have completed 17 years of age as of Dec’31st 2021. Candidates born on or after Jan’2nd 2004, will not be entertained. 

Maharashtra NEET UG Counselling 2021: Documents Required

Candidates who are qualified for NEET-UG 2021 conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency), are eligible as well as to participate in the Maharashtra NEET UG Counselling 2021. Maharashtra NEET UG Counselling 2021: Reservation Criteria

The state of Maharashtra is known for having one of the largest number of deemed medical colleges. There are a total of 65 medical colleges including the Unaided/Private medical colleges in Maharashtra.

Maharashtra NEET UG Counselling 2021: Allotment Procedure

As per the merit list prepared by MH CET, Mumbai, shortlisted candidates will be called for Maharashtra NEET PG Counselling 2021. However, from 2021 onwards, Maharashtra NEET UG Counselling 2021 is conducted in an online mode. 

Following sequence of events have to be followed in the counselling process to secure a MBBS/BDS seat in the medical institutes of Maharashtra. 

  • Participating candidates need to register themselves on the Online Portal of Maharashtra NEET UG Medical Admission 2021 at https://mahacet.org.
  • Post-registration on the counselling portal of Maharashtra, candidates will be asked to fill their preferences of colleges.
  • Based on the choices filled and seat matrix MH CET, Mumbai releases the provisional merit list followed by the final Maharashtra PG medical seat allotment list.
  • Further candidates will have to submit the part academic fee to confirm their seats.
  • Candidates, whose names are included in the seat allotment of Maharashtra NEET UG Medical/Dental will be required to download their allotment letter from the MH CET Portal at https://mhcet.org.  
  • Shortlisted candidates are then required to report to the allotted college for payment of balance admission fee, document verification, and reserving the allotted medical/dental admission seat.
